Hollywood, CA – Young Dolph is in critical condition at a Los Angeles hospital after being shot multiple times on Tuesday (September 26), but the “Bulletproof” rapper is expected to survive, according to the L.A. Times. The incident happened in broad daylight at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland, a busy tourist district near the famous TCL Chinese Theatre.
Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Dolph and three other men outside of the Loews Hollywood Hotel. At one point, the self-proclaimed King of Memphis was knocked to the ground and shot several times. Dolph managed to get to the nearby Shoe Palace while two of the men took off on foot, and a third peeled off in a Cadillac Escalade, which was later discovered abandoned near the scene.
Late Tuesday afternoon, TMZ reported that the LAPD had named fellow rapper Yo Gotti a person of interest. Gotti and Dolph were both staying at the Loews Hotel, but on Wednesday morning (September 27), the L.A. County Sheriff’s Office reportedly disputed those claims and confirmed Gotti is not a person of interest at this time.
One person was detained at the scene, but released without charges.
