The past few months have been an unexpected whirlwind for Florida rapper XXXTENTACION. Consequently, the up-and-coming musician appears to be taking a break from the musical mayhem. In a message uploaded to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday (July 19), X wrote, “I’m going to disappear for a little while, I love you all.”
X kept the details of his self-imposed vanishing act scarce, and chose not to provide a timeframe for his break or the exact reason behind it.
From fans losing their minds over a canceled show in Chicago to his mid-performance knock out in San Diego, his concert have solicited plenty of attention and not exactly the good kind.
In late June, X canceled the remainder of his The Revenge Tour after learning that his cousin was shot.
“I am postponing the tour and giving a full refund to everyone that has purchased a ticket due to my cousin being shot yesterday,” X wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.
For now, it’s unclear if he’ll be back anytime soon.
