Orange County, CA – Sad news out of Lake Isabella, California. The body of Orange County rapper Michael Ramirez, who went by the moniker Dossicc, was pulled from the Kern River on Saturday (July 1), marking a tragic end to the week-long search. He had been missing since June 22 when he disappeared from a Keyesville campground.
Ramirez’s girlfriend, Erica Zambada, said they had been camping with friends and celebrating Ramirez’s 27th birthday, which was June 19. After setting up their tents, Ramirez reportedly took a swim to cool down, but struggled to stay afloat and was pulled under, according to Zambada.
Palmdale resident Yanira Zelaya told the Los Angeles Times her 20-year-old son Jeison Aviles found the body while he was fishing near the Keyesville south campground in Lake Isabella, where his family was celebrating the holiday weekend. Zelaya called 911 around 6:30 p.m. after he returned to camp.
As a member of the Hip Hop collective Rebellion Warfare, Ramirez had opened up for artists like Immortal Technique, Aesop Rock, Raekwon and Method Man. It appeared the group was on the ascent to notoriety and had high hopes for the future.
This marks the eighth life Kern River has claimed since March, earning it the nickname “Killer Kern.” A Go Fund Me page has been established in Ramirez’s name and can be found here.
HipHopDX sends its condolences to the friends and family of Michael “Dossicc” Ramirez.
