New Orleans, LA – Kodak Black has had his share of legal troubles over the past year and was just released from a Broward County jail in June after serving time for several probation violations. Since then, Master P has taken the 19-year-old under his wing and reportedly considers him like a son. Kodak mentioned he wanted the No Limit Records CEO to mentor him during an interview with The Breakfast Club back in January and the two linked shortly after that.
After the “Tunnel Vision” rapper was invited to participate in Master P’s Team Hope NOLA Celebrity Basketball Game, which was held in New Orleans on June 29, Kodak issued a statement that read, “Nobody’s perfect, I’m a work in progress myself. I got a second chance and I want to help inner city kids.”
In a video posted to Instagram on July 3, Master P co-signed the Pompano Beach, Florida native, saying, “This is the future right here. Y’all ain’t ready. We about to go crazy. Big business.”

Their next project is a back-to-school fundraiser on August 14 in Kodak’s hometown, where they plan on giving away school supplies to over 1300 kids. In 2014, Kodak stated he was working on finishing his diploma at Blanche Ely High School and although it’s unclear if he received his degree, he reportedly considers education extremely important.
Kodak grew up primarily with his mother in Golden Acres, a public housing project in Pompano Beach, and having the guidance of a father figure like Master P appears to be a step towards a better path.
